Sigma Beauty brush

I am so excited because I just received my first Sigma Beauty makeup brush!! I read reviews about these brushes so I was really looking forward to ordering one.  I placed my order for the Duo Fibre F50 brush on Tuesday, and I received it today! Talk about fast shipping. I am definitely interested in ordering more. I haven't used it yet, but I'll let you know how it goes as soon as I do.

Happy New Year's Eve!!!!

I love New Year's Eve! It's so festive and fun, and it is the best excuse to wear a sequin dress, haha. I think NYE is a good time to experiment with makeup and accessories. When I think of New Year's, I think of glitter, gold and sequins.  Here are some ideas to inspire you!

Beyonce's hair and makeup in this picture is so much fun. She did a dark smoky eye with a nude shimmer lipgloss. I like how she used a pearly shimmer liner under her eyes. She used glitter extensions that aren't too obvious but reflect in the light. I love this look.

I just used this OPI polish from the "Burlesque" collection. It's called "Glow Up Already!" and is a beautiful opaque glitter. Most glitter polishes are annoying because they don't cover my nails completely, but this one is a ton of glitter that doesn't let any nail show through.

How about some gold shoes? This pair is from Steve Madden, and although I am not crazy about glitter shoes, there is no better time than New Year's Eve to wear a pair like this. I know my sister is obsessed with these. If your dress is more on the simple side, these are a fun addition.

No matter where you are going and what you are doing, remember to have fun and be safe!! I hope everyone has a fabulous New Year's Eve and a wonderful 2011, and ring in the new year with style!

Things I've been obsessed with lately

L'Occitane hand cream - In the winter, my hands get so disgustingly dry that they bleed. Literally. I am 21 years old with the hands of an 80 year old. I tried this cream once, and have been hooked ever since. The fragrance is so nice but not at all overpowering, and it's super thick without being greasy. It's worth every penny.

My Ray-Ban glasses - Every time I wear these in public, I get asked whether they are prescription glasses.  The answer is YES! I just bought Ray-Ban sunglasses and popped the dark lenses out. I feel like they are old-school and classic, but also very stylish. I think I can wear them for a while.

L'oreal Texture Expert Mouse Volupte - I can honestly say I have tried like, 90% of hair products on the market, and while I find some that I like, this one really takes the cake. My hair is weird- I've got a ton of it (making it a real pain to blowdry), but it's really soft and limp, meaning it never holds a style. This mousse makes my hair nice and big.

ASOS.com - This British fashion site has become my new go-to for accessories. Their stuff ranges from 5 to 500 dollars, and you can pick the maximum and minimum prices in your budget. I have found some really cool, affordable pieces on this site, and everything arrives very fast.

Nail polish - I don't know when I became a freak about nail polish, but my addiction has reached gross proportions. Every time a new polish collection comes out, I neeeed to try at least a few different shades. I don't even paint my nails that often! I've got so many, I could open a nail salon. I usually stick to dark polishes (let's be honest, most of them are black tinged with a hint of blue, green, etc.), but I like to try anything.

"My So-Called Life" on Hulu.com - The entire series is available on www.hulu.com right now. I'm not sure if it'll expire or not, but I've definitely been watching it. I totally remember watching it when I was young, but I was only 5 when it originally aired, so honestly, how much did I even understand? Catching up on it now makes it all the more addicting. I want to buy the DVD set!

MAC Pro Longwear Foundation - I always have a problem with my foundation staying on my face. No matter what kind of foundation I use, it comes off about an hour later. I don't know if it's because I touch my face or what, but trying this foundation was a smart idea. It literally stays on all day! It looks very natural on my skin, and for someone who is pretty picky about foundation, this one is a winner.

Rosebud Salve - No words necessary.  Just try it.

Phytomer Hydracontinue Moisturizing Base Skin Cream - Long name, I know. My esthetician recommended this skin cream for me, and I love love love it. It's got a gel-cream texture that isn't too heavy, but moisturizes beautifully, even in the winter. It doesn't irritate my skin, but just soaks right in and feels amazing.

My MAC Pro Palette - I just got one of these recently and I love it. I used to buy individuals of every single color, which was a pain because I was running out of places to keep them. It also became annoying to take a million eyeshadows with me whenever I travelled. This is much more convenient. I have a feeling I'm going to fill up a bunch of these.

Any new obsessions for you?

Perfect shade of lipstick

So I've been continuously searching for a lipstick shade that I am convinced doesn't exist.  This picture is a pretty close idea to what I am looking for...but less creamy than I'd like, if that makes sense?  Seriously, I would be willing to pay big bucks if I found the perfect shade...but I can't!  I might try Nars Pure Matte Lipstick in Volga, it seems like it could be a close enough match.  The search continues...

Summer makeup

I went to Nordstrom today to pick up some makeup I had pre-ordered, and they had some kind of special promotion and were doing makeup on customers. I picked up a couple of things from MAC's To The Beach Collection, Splashing lipglass and Marine Life highlight powder. I really love summer makeup, I love being tan, I love gold and pink and warmth and all of that fun stuff. I haven't been wearing too exciting of makeup colors lately, but I think I'll start doing fun looks again like I used to. I found this little survey on another beauty blog, and I thought it would be interesting to fill out!

Last mascara you bought: L'oreal Voluminous Carbon Black...the only one that goes on dark and thick enough

Last lipstick you wore: Kat Von D Painted Love lipstick in Stiletto (an orange red)

Last look you wore you LOVED!: Thick black winged eyeliner with a neutral eyeshadow, and MAC lipstick in Girl About Town (a bright fuchsia)...it looked kind of 80's but really cool

Last eyeshadow you fell in love with: MAC eyeshadow in Banshee

Last blush you wore: I never wear only one blush at a time; today I had on MAC cream blush in Posey, topped off with powder blush in Dollymix and Springsheen (both MAC)

Last time you washed your brushes: Maybe a month or two ago, I need to wash them again ASAP

Last nail polish you removed: Essie in Marshmallow, right now I have OPI Monsooner or Later on

All done...

I'm really excited to be finished with classes for the semester; I got my grades today and I did pretty well. I didn't really put in much effort this semester, which really isn't anything to brag about, but I think that if I at least try next semester I can get on the Dean's List...but anyway, school is done, so enough with that.

On to SUMMER plans!! I'm anticipating that this will be a really fun summer...we have a couple of weddings and such to go to, and my sisters and I are going to Kings of Leon and Backstreet Boys this summer, haha. Maybe a trip to Florida or Chicago thrown in there somewhere. Either way, I'm making sure it'll be eventful. Not like last summer, totally boring and forgettable. I really need to go buy some summer clothes, my lack of wardrobe is starting to turn ridiculous...

Aches all over...

I have nothing interesting to write about today, really. I've been trying to finish up homework and papers before the end of the semester on Wednesday. I cannot waittttt for this semester to be over, the classes I am in are so incredibly boring. Pretty much every class focuses on the time period in the U.S. right after the Civil War, which I am really not interested in at all. I just have to suck it up for a couple more days, and I'll be home free.

My back hurts really badly...it's driving me nuts. One of the massage therapists at work gave me a mini massage on Saturday, and that helped at the time, but I swear it's getting worse. I wonder if I'm sleeping weird?...

Geocaching

Has anyone ever heard of "geocaching"? Apparently, it's this huge community of people who use GPS technology to hunt down these containers that may be filled with treasure. I feel like I've heard it mentioned before, but my sister told me that a woman she knows is an active geocacher, so I wanted to look into it a bit more. I browsed on the website, and there are all of these rules on how to geocache, like leaving something in place of a container that you find, etc. It sounds like a ton of fun, so my sister and I decided we would try it out. We haven't really started anything yet, except signing up on the website.

Some die-hard geocachers go all over the world looking for treasure, but I think we'll start small and stick to local hunts, haha. I'm interested to see what we find!

My song of the day (or whole week...)

Beat the Devil's Tattoo - Black Rebel Motorcycle Club

These guys are just so cool, and I love this video. I'm kind of resentful that more people aren't fans of BRMC. I remember when they came to Detroit, and Kings of Leon opened for them, and I wanted to go so badly and no one would go with me. Now everyone's scrambling to go see Kings of Leon this summer.

Enjoy!
